Selection Guidance

Selecting a flexy.co.uk expandable conveyor

Careful consideration should be given when selecting a flexy.co.uk powered or gravity expandable conveyor in order to ensure efficiency in operation.

Products to be conveyed - (Weight, Dimensions, Irregular Shapes, etc)
Consideration should be given to the base size and weight for the minimum and maximum load, its uniformity and the condition of the underside.

Please be aware that a gravity conveyor requires a gradient to ensure the product can roll unaided from one end to the other, whereas powered conveyor can transport products whilst horizontal.

Environment - Consideration should be taken into account to determine whether zinc plated or optional plastic roller/skatewheels are required.

Base of Load - This must have no projections and be smooth and reasonably flat.

Width - Conveyor track selection should normally be in excess of maximum load width, but with stable load conditions an overhang can be acceptable with a minimum of 2/3rds of the product being supported. Standard width 600mm & 750mm (900mm optional).

Product Handling

Products to be conveyed must touch a minimum of three rollers. Sometimes closer roller pitchings are required to give support to smaller or softer based loads. Standard roller/skatewheel centres on a fully extended conveyor are 125mm, but less when compacted.
